1. Our league will be governed by ASA slow pitch rules except as outlined in the following addendum.
2. This league is intended for men 18 years of age and older. Additional players 17 years of age will be eligible to play only when written permission (Pastoral and Parental) has been presented to the league
3. Metal spikes are not permitted in league play. Their use will result in a game forfeiture.
4. Triple wall and titanium bats are not permitted in league play. Their use will result in an immediate game forfeiture.
* NOTE: Bats that are not on the ASA approved list are not permitted in league play.
5. A runner or batter must avoid “intentional contact” with a defensive player. Any intentional contact for the express purpose of avoiding an out will result immediate ejection from the game. Incidental contact is inevitable in any sport, so coaches; please exercise good judgment and wisdom concerning contact
6. There will be no alcoholic beverages at CFL functions or on field property. Violation of this rule will result in league dismissal. There are no warnings!
7. Any player engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct, i.e., fighting, using profanity, arguing with an umpire or generally unruly behavior shall, upon review by the league, be suspended from play for a period of up to 6 games. Any subsequent infractions will be grounds for suspension from the league for the remainder of the season to include the post season. Furthermore, if the offending party refuses to modify his behavior to conform to the standards of Biblical Christian conduct, he shall be barred from play in the Christian Fellowship League until such time as repentance is demonstrated.
8. Any coach who does not aggressively seek to eliminate the unsportsmanlike conduct of any of his players shall place his team in jeopardy of league suspension as stated in item 7 above. This in no way precludes a team member from diffusing a “bad situation”. Bare in mind, the coach maintains the responsibility for his teams conduct at all times. Consistent “team” misconduct will invoke the same penalty. These two provisos are in place to promote proper conduct, and thereby secure the reputation of Jesus Christ and His Church.
9. The home team will supply one (1) new ball to the umpire before the start of the game. The visiting team will provide a suitable back-up ball. If a ball is lost, use a suitable back-up ball, not a new ball!
10. All teams are required to submit a team roster to the league before the first regularly scheduled game. Rosters must be signed by the Pastor of the sponsoring church. Rosters not submitted before the first game will result in an irreversible forfeit. Three forfeits will be grounds for dismissal from the league. After the start of the season, names can be added to a team roster by submitting, in writing, an addendum to the league commissioner. All roster additions must be submitted prior to the last three regular season games for the players to be eligible for post season play. The postmark of any correspondence will be used for determining eligibility.
11. All players that show up for a game must play in some capacity unless the player chooses not to play. Any player who is pulled from the lineup once a game is commenced will be deemed an out each time he would have been up in the batting rotation. Exception: Any player who is injured and does not wish to continue playing; any player who is called away for family business or emergency; any player who is subject to job requirements and is called away (paged) during the game. In that case, said player will advise both coaches prior to the start of the game that he will be subject to a call.
12. A minimum of 18 players is required to play an official game. When a team shows with 8 players from its own roster, the loaning of a player is required to make the game official. The loaned player will be used as a catcher for the express purpose of returning the ball to the pitcher and is not to be used to make fielding plays. If players arrive for the short-handed team, the game will continue as normal.
13. RESCHEDULED Games: Games will not be voluntarily rescheduled except where there exists a “church function” such as a retreat or conference. In such cases the first available Thursday night will be utilized.
14. If an umpire fails to show, the games will be played using an umpire that is agreeable to both coaches. The game will be deemed official.
15. Pinch runners: Players who know that they will need a runner must notify the opposing coach and umpire during the ground rules. Should a runner be required during the course of the game, the last batted out is to be used as the runner. If there are no outs the last batted out from the previous inning is to serve as the pinch runner.
16. We will use the ASA rules regarding any game that is called by an umpire due to darkness or weather. The umpires decision is final.
17. A batter is allowed one foul after he has a 2 strike count on him. A second foul ball will result in the batter being called out.
18. On any field that has a fenced outfield a 3 homerun limit is in effect. Upon the 3rd homerun over the fence by a team, any further balls hit over the fence by that team will be ruled a ground rule double. Each team is allowed 3 homeruns per game.
19. LEAGUE INFRACTIONS: Whenever a coach feels a serious infraction has occurred, try to handle the problem immediately with the opposing coach. If no resolution can be reached, contact the league commissioner to discuss the matter. If necessary both coaches will be called together for a meeting, where all details and information will be gathered and a course of action will be determined. If the parties involved refuse to come together for discussion, the league will act on the matter and impose corrective action as necessary.
20. Any team that has 3 forfeits will be suspended for the remainder of the season.
21. Base runners cannot leave the base until the ball crosses the plate. There is no stealing or bunting.
